The Sony KD55X9305C – A Stunning Deal?

Review: Sony KD55X9305C Android 4K Ultra HD TV

At Simply Electricals in Bolton and Rawtenstall, we are passionate about giving you the best advice on all products in the home entertainment market. Here, we are pleased to be able to review the Sony KD55X9305C, which has only recently been released in the UK, in stark contrast to 2014, when Sony’s range was launched much earlier in the year. This was primarily down to delays relating to integrating Google’s Android platform into the TV. Now available in UK and Europe, it retails typically for a shade under ¬£2,600.

So, let’s take a closer look.

The X9005B successor

Developed as a direct successor to last year’s acclaimed X9005B, the X93C series TV offers two screen sizes; the 55″ KD-55X9305C and the 65″ KD-65X9305C has several enhancements such as high res’ audio and their cutting-edge X1 processor.

Other upgrades on its predecessor include:

  • High Dynamic Range imaging
  • YouView catch-up TV
  • New Android navigation system
  • High Res audio

The KD55X9305C remains faithful to the wedge-design of last year’s model, even down to the chrome side panels and metal feet, but this TV is sleeker without losing any of its elegance.

It stands out from the crowd in that this Bravia model doesn’t follow the ‘trendy’ bezel or curved designs currently leading the market, but this just serves to set it apart with a beautiful, unique and distinctive look.

Spec & Features

This unit has more than a few optimising features to improve the viewer’s experience. Let’s take an overview of what’s inside.

In-built ‘Cinema pro’ tech delivers super-accurate optimised pictures, offering ‘real’ blacks and whites for true image reproduction. Also the ‘wording’ on the menu settings that control colours, brightness and contrast are much more descriptive of what they do, meaning that they are much simpler to use than previous Bravia models.

This TV carries on Bravia’s name of awesome high res’ sound through it’s front-facing speakers, firing ‘immersive’ audio around the room.

In addition to its defining Android menu system, the X9305C boasts ‘Game’ spec that delivers speed that should cut down the ‘lag’ that gamers experience during play.

Picture Upscaling

As a feature, picture upscaling is available with all the major brands in the market and what this TV offers in that respect, stands up to the best available from both Samsung and Panasonic.

The Simply Verdict

Despite one or two shortcomings in SD pictures and occasional software glitches, the KD55X9305C is still one of if not the best 4K TVs on the market and anyone investing in one won’t end up regretting it.
