The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

They have a number of great features including Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), a fast charge case via USB-C and a handy auto play/pause function.

Design and Features of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

  • A microphone for answering calls which has an auto voice playback function so you can hear yourself whilst speaking.

  • Auto play/pause when you take the right bud out of your ear so you never miss a part of a song.

  • Fast charging case that will give you approximately 2 hours of listening time after just 15 minutes. The case also supports wireless charging via a Qi Charging pad.

  • Fantastic Active Noise Cancellation which can be enabled/disabled by the touch of a button.

  • Easy controls which are customisable via the Bose Music App.

Setting Up & Connecting Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

Bose have made it relatively simple when it comes to setting up the earbuds as they come pre charged out of the box; just take them out of their case, pop them in your ears and you should hear a nice tone to indicate that they are on.

After that, a voice will inform you that it’s searching for a device via Bluetooth. Once connected, it will prompt you to download the Bose Music App from the App store or Play store. You need this App on your phone at all times to work the earbuds (a slight bug bear in my opinion, but it’s not the end of the world).

In the app, it will ask you to place the earbuds back in the case and close the lid so the earbuds can update the firmware – this takes around 3-6 minutes depending on your signal strength. Once the firmware is complete, you’re good to go.

Bose QuietComfort Earbud Wingtip Fittings

The Bose QuietComfort earbuds have a special wingtip fitting for extra security and comfort in your ears. They supply 3 sizes of the wingtips depending on the size of your ears; 0, 1 & 2+. 1 comes fitted to the earbuds already as this is the standard fit, 0 is the smallest fit and 2+ is the largest fit.

The wing tip should be comfortably placed in the ridge of the ear above the opening to the ear canal. I recommend trying all three sizes to find the best fit.

How to use the touch controls on Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

The right earbud is the most dominant when it comes to controlling the earbuds. If you take the right earbud out, this is when the auto play/pause function will activate.

Charging Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

Bose QuietComfort earbuds come supplied with a charging case that supports USB-C fast charging and wireless charging through a Qi wireless charging pad.

To charge the earbuds, you will need to pop them in the case and close the lid.

Flashing LED lights on the front of the case (below the open/close clip) flow from left to right to indicate the earbuds are successfully charging. Y

Bose Music App

How long is the battery life for the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds?

The Bose QuietComfort earbuds last around 5 hours on a full charge (with ANC enabled).

For ANC earbuds, that is pretty impressive, also beating the Apple Airpods Pro listening time!

How long do the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds take to charge?

The case takes around 3 hours to fully charge and should give around 3 full charges to the earbuds.

The earbuds take around 2 hours to fully charge and they have an impressive quick charge feature – pop the earbuds in the case for 15 minutes and this gives you 2 hours of listening time.

Modes & EQ

Within the app, Bose gives you 2 preset modes and you have the ability to create t2 custom modes totalling 4 modes. The preset modes are quiet, which uses the Active Noise Cancelling technology – this mutes the world around you so you can better hear and feel every detail of your music.

The second preset mode is Aware – this lets you hear surroundings and your music at the same time. Within the Aware mode, there is a toggle option for ActiveSense. This is active by default so if things get too loud, Bose automatically adjusts the amount of noise cancellation so you can enjoy your music comfortably.

Also within the App is the EQ settings. These come with 4 preset modes you can select: Bass Boost, Bass Reducer, Treble Boost & Treble Reducer, depending on your preference. You can also use the manual functions to adjust the Bass & Treble to your liking.

Audio Quality

Bose are a leading manufacturer of sound products, so it comes as no surprise that these earbuds give out superb sound and clarity.

The sound quality is dependent on your ability to get the best fit using the 3 sizes of wingtips; this is also important for Active Noise Cancellation and bass reproduction.
