About Smeg coffee machines

If you’re looking for beautifully designed coffee machines that produce great tasting coffee, look no further than Smeg.

Smeg is known for their stylish, yet reliable machines that are perfect entry level systems, ideal for a variety of different coffee drinkers.

Are DeLonghi and Smeg the same company?

No, DeLonghi and Smeg are two completely different companies.

While DeLonghi has acquired a number of other companies such as Kenwood and Braun, they do not own Smeg.

In fact, in 2019 Smeg actually acquired La Pavoni, which is one of the leading coffee machine brands globally.

What kind of coffee should you use in a Smeg coffee machine?

Depending on what type of Smeg coffee machine you buy, you can use pods or coffee grounds.

Some machines even use both coffee grounds and pods, allowing the user to choose their favourite roast and have the coffee shop experience in their own home

Which type of Smeg coffee machine do I need?

The type of Smeg coffee machine you choose will depend on a few factors including your skill level, how involved you want to be in the coffee making process and your own aesthetics.

If you prefer a no frills approach to your coffee machine, a Smeg pod coffee machine may be the best choice for you. All you need to do is insert the pod, press the start button and wait for your coffee to be perfectly brewed for you.

Alternatively, if you prefer a more hands on approach, a Smeg espresso machine may be the best option. Smeg espresso machines come in a variety of colours and styles, perfect for any kitchen. They also allow you to have full control over the coffee making process.

Are Smeg coffee machines easy to operate?

Yes, Smeg coffee machines are made with the user at the forefront of design.

They are also relatively easy to set up and run, and many of the machines feature minimal buttons in order to keep the brewing process easy and run smoothly.

Do Smeg coffee machines grind coffee beans?

Although Smeg does not have espresso machines with built-in coffee grinders, they do offer a few models of bean-to-cup coffee machines

These machines grind the beans, press them and brew them in one single process, creating a delicious, freshly brewed coffee.

Can you use ground coffee in Smeg coffee machines?

Yes, in the Smeg espresso machines, you can use any ground coffee of your choice.

However, you should be aware that the taste of the coffee can be affected by the grind size of the beans, as well as the type of coffee you choose.

The Smeg & Lavazza 18000463 A Modo Mio Espresso Coffee Machine is a capsule coffee machine, designed for use with Lavazza coffee pods. This is a pod espresso machine, meaning that you won’t get the same variety of drinks that you may get with other pod machines, such as the Nespresso Vertuo range.

However, it is a beautifully designed machine and many people love the taste of Lavazza coffee. Not to mention that the pods themselves are fully recyclable and suitable for home recycling.

Smeg’s BCC02WHMUK Bean to Cup Coffee Machine is perfect for those who want great tasting coffee, but don’t want to learn the skills required to use an espresso machine. This machine is incredibly easy to use; simply fill the grinder with your favourite beans and then sit back and relax while the machine does all the hard work for you.

Unlike other bean to cup machines, Smeg’s machine features a steam wand for you to froth your own milk for milk based coffees such as lattes and cappuccinos.

This can take some practice, but once you’ve figured it out, it becomes incredibly easy to make barista style coffees at home.

The Smeg ECF01PBEU Espresso Coffee Machine is a popular choice amongst coffee drinks thanks to the customisation features and variety of different shades this machine comes in.

It features an intuitive control panel, as well as the standard equipment featured on an espresso machine including a steam wand, three stainless steel filters and measuring cups.

This machine is a more basic model compared to other models on the market, but it is ideal for espresso machine beginners or those who simply want a stripped back machine.

Smeg does actually create their own separate coffee grinder that would make the ideal accessory next to the machines without a bean grinder. The Smeg Coffee Grinder provides a high professional performance, allowing up to 50 shots of espresso to be ground in one go.

This bean grinder has a variety of different grind settings from fine to coarse, allowing you to fully customise your coffee to suit your desired taste.
